After School Programs
Grace Academy is happy to offer our families and the rest of our Grace community after school programs for K5 -12th grade students. We offer fall, winter, and spring programs, which are completed immediately after school, until 4:15pm. Programs offered each session are subject to change.
After School Programs by season:
Fall After School Programs
Introduction to Volleyball:
After-school volleyball is open to 3rd through 5th grade girls. The volleyball program will consist of skill training and inter-squad games coached by current varsity players and coaches. Dates and times are TBD.
Introduction to Soccer via Liverpool:
Grace Academy is excited to offer in partnership with Liverpool FCIA-MD an after-school soccer program that aids young children's development—supported by the community. It is designed to improve physical, mental, and social health while instilling love and excitement for the beautiful game of soccer in a safe, fun, inclusive, and supportive environment! This program includes "free play" on Saturdays at Grace Academy.
Introduction to Cross Country:
After-school cross country is open to 3rd through 12th grade students. The cross country program will consist of various running and breathing techniques through methods of short and long distance training. Cross Country will be led by long time Grace coaches, Lisa and Jeremy Downie. Dates and times are TBD.
Introduction to Golf: Students in grades 6th through 12th will develop their golf skillset along with key life skills of integrity, sportsmanship, and mental toughness through the game of golf. Coached by long time golf coach and head of school, Mr. Whitley, students will travel to Greencastle Golf Club weekly for instruction on Tuesdays and Thursday.
Dance: In this session, K-2 students will explore basic dance principles in the center and across the floor, as well as through creative imagery and games. Students will learn rhythm, coordination, and balance, all while building self confidence and having fun! At the end of the session, dancers will have the opportunity to perform choreography learned in this session at a CSC celebration. Dance classes will be coached by Kassi Serafini, the 2017 K-12 Maryland Dance Educator of the Year! We are very excited for this new opportunity for our students!
Soccer Shots: With this partnership with Soccer Shots, we will be able to offer fun youth enrichment program using soccer! Their character development program teaches Respect, Confidence, Determination, and serves as an intro to soccer program for children ages 3 to 5. The program will be at Grace on Wednesday's at 3:15 PM, beginning September 6 - October 11. This program is open to all Pre K Students, ages 3 to 5 years old
(child must be enrolled at Grace Academy to participate).
Winter After School Programs
Winter programming begins after winter break which include:
Girls and Boys Basketball: Open to 3rd through 5th grade boys and girls (split gender on each court). The program will be led by our varsity coaching staff and varsity players and will consist of skill training and inter-squad games.

Introduction to Skiing and Snowboarding: After school skiing and snowboarding is open to students aged 7 to 13 years old, which will require an accompanying guardian. Students aged 14 and older are welcome to attend with the group as well to enroll in lessons or simply "free ski."
Grace Academy staff member, Ivan Miller, will be offering skiing and snowboarding lessons each week. With 20+ years of instructing experience, Mr. Miller will offer lessons on specific dates for families to sign up.
Introduction to Creative Writing:
Creative Writing club will be open to 3rd-5th grade students. Students will have the opportunity to explore different techniques in writing. They will improve creativity and imagination when writing narratives and poetry. They will use picture prompts, child-friendly themes and mentor texts to inspire their writing. Students will learn how to incorporate expressive language and build vocabulary into their processes. Mrs. Miller, our 5th grade teacher will be leading this program!
High School Futsal League: Our boys and girls soccer programs will compete in the Washington County Rec. Dept. indoor futsal league at Hagerstown Community College.
NASP Archery: The National Archery in the Schools Program is an in-school program aimed at improving educational performance among students in grades 4th – 12th. And through it, students are learning focus, self-control, discipline, patience, and the life lessons required to be successful in the classroom and in life. NASP is held in the Grace gymnasium and is led by certified instructors with specialized equipment. Students will be able to compete in local, state and even national tournaments.
